About the Alpha Expo program:

Africa Fintech Summit’s Alpha Expo program provides an opportunity for up to 15 startups to exhibit and demo their products to a wide variety of stakeholders at the upcoming fintech summit. Among the benefits shared from past Alpha Expo (AE) participants, possible outcomes following participation in the program include opportunities to join a top accelerator program, meetings  with early-stage tech investors, connections with prospective partners and clients, and an opportunity to engage top regulators. 

This year, Alpha Expo finalists will have a virtual booth at #AFTS2020 that allows startups to upload a pre-recorded demo, marketing materials, and promotional offers. AE participants also have the option to host a “Live” booth to virtually meet with attendees as they “stop by.” Each exhibition booth comes with the ability to track ROI and booth drop-bys.

Of those who apply for the Alpha Expo program, up to seven will be selected to pitch during #AFTS2020 for Pegasus Tech Ventures’ Startup World Cup regional finals. The winner of the SWC regional finals will then go on to compete at the SWC global semi-finals in Silicon Valley in May 2021 for a chance at US$1 million in capital and services.

For those who may not be quite ready to pitch or fundraise, the AE program is a great opportunity to “soft pitch” and receive feedback from industry stakeholders on crucial success factors like product-market fit, messaging, understanding of the user experience, etc.

Who qualifies?

The program is open to any startup in fintech or a fintech-adjacent sectors (InsurTech, TradeTech, AgTech+FinTech product, etc.) that:

  • Brings in less than US $5M in annual revenue
  • Has a product/service that primarily targets a geo in Africa
  • Operates in at least one African country
